Background
Data collection on organic agriculture in Europe has been carried out in the framework of the annual survey on organic agriculture worldwide since 2000.
Currently, data collection is carried out by the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture FiBL together with the Agricultural Information Company AMI. Both were partners in the European research project OrganicDataNetwork, which ran from 2012 to 2014 and which helped
- to expand the scope of the data collection in particular in the area of retail sales data,
- to install several quality checks, and
- to identify some problems related to the data collection, such as varying definitions and classifications.
